I honestly don’t know too much about the New Orleans musician behind Chardonnay. I know him as Caspian, or Cas P. Ian, or CPN. I certainly don’t know his last name. You know actually the list of things I do know about him is pretty short and primarily consists of his artistic resume. He was a founding member of Santa Cruz eco-anarchist folk-punk band Blackbird Raum, which is pretty interesting. He’s the leader of Scissorbills, a very exciting string--laden folk project based in NOLA who’s collection of songs, “Loud Hidden,” was released in 2018 on Tape Dad. He is also the former lead guitar picker in Nick Shoulder’s Crawdad band.

Regardless of who or what CPN is, they surely did a pretty whipass job at conjuring up this current project. “Do You Have Maximum Intuition?” is a killer record. t’s kind of like crusty psychedelic post-punk with a great pop sensibility and a library card. This is one of the releases I have listened to over and over again from this past year and if you haven’t checked it out yet, you probably should get on it bud.

In early 2020, our second batch of tapes was released featuring a new robin's egg blue rendition of the original artwork.
